Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: A New Muppet Adventure at Disney's Hollywood Studios (2026)

The Muppets have officially taken over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it’s a wild ride! The new version of the attraction, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, features The Electric Mayhem as the headliner instead of Aerosmith. This change is a big deal, as it brings a fresh and modern twist to the classic roller coaster experience. Personally, I think it’s a brilliant move, as The Muppets have always had a special place in my heart, and this ride is a fun and nostalgic experience for fans of all ages. The ride is currently going through previews, but officially opens to guests on May 26. However, I was lucky enough to get early access and share my experience with you.

A Muppet Makeover

The first thing that hits you when you enter the courtyard is the upside-down car on the head of a long guitar neck. The car and 40-foot-tall guitar (a Fender Stratocaster) have been given a colorful The Electric Mayhem-inspired makeover. The car’s license plates read “MUPP3TS,” and the signage on the guitar has been updated to read “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.” One of the piano keys below the guitar was painted gold as an homage to The Electric Mayhem frontman Dr. Teeth. The entrance archway, gate, and show building were all painted gray, a stark contrast to the former beige shades.

The former KRNR The Rock Station snack kiosk has been transformed into FØØD by Swedish Chef, offering a new menu of nachos, churros, and more. Rock Around the Shop, the ride’s exit gift shop, has also been updated with new signage, including Dr. Teeth’s arm pointing to the store. The poster on the building features The Electric Mayhem members, Kermit, and Miss Piggy in one of the ride’s reimagined limousines, creating a vibrant and playful atmosphere.

A VIP Tour of G-Force Records

Just like the former version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, the concept of this ride is that guests are on a VIP tour of G-Force Records, under new management. Scooter’s uncle, J.P. Grosse, has bought the record company and put Scooter in charge. Along the wall of the exterior queue, there are new posters inspired by The Electric Mayhem, with a fresh design for each member of the band, as well as generic posters advertising their “one night only” Hollywood concert. The digital posters in the rotunda now feature The Muppets alongside celebrities like Weird Al Yankovic, Awkwafina, and Neil Patrick Harris, adding a modern and pop-culture twist to the experience.

The Pre-Show: A Muppet Rehearsal

Guests enter the recording studio, where The Electric Mayhem is rehearsing their original song “Can You Picture That?” from The Muppet Movie (1979). The pre-show is filled with Muppet-themed props, including a PizzeRizzo box and many lava lamps. Scooter is featured as an animatronic, created using motion capture of the real Scooter Muppet. Behind Scooter is a black Gibson Les Paul from the former Aerosmith pre-show. Two animatronic penguins act as audio engineers, adding a quirky and fun element to the experience.

The Loading Area: L.I.M.O.s and Gonzo Props

Guests enter the alley behind the studio to board their L.I.M.O.s (Lengthy Immediate Motion Objects). The loading area is filled with new props, including a plethora of The Great Gonzo items, such as a plumber statue from The Muppet Movie (1979) and his Charles Dickens top hat from The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992). Many props are recycled from the pre-show of MuppetVision 3D, adding a sense of continuity to the experience.

The Ride: Songs and On-Ride Photos

On the ride, guests will hear one of the following songs performed by The Electric Mayhem: ‘Song 2,’ ‘Born to be Wild’ ft. Camilla the Chicken, ‘Love Rollercoaster’ ft. Jennifer Hudson & Questlove, ‘Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)’ ft. Def Leppard, and ‘Walking on Sunshine’ ft. Kelly Clarkson. There are three frames for the on-ride photo, each with a unique design featuring The Electric Mayhem members, Animal and Sergeant Floyd Pepper, and Miss Piggy and Kermit alongside a ‘Guest Pass’ image.

The Exit: Statler and Waldorf and a Muppet Version of Jim Henson

Before the exit platform, Statler and Waldorf, recycled from MuppetVision 3D, are in a trailer, with new dialogue and outfits. A projection screen above the on-ride photo displays shows The Electric Mayhem performing at their concert. Above the exit is a portrait of the Muppet version of Jim Henson, adding a touch of Muppet history to the experience.

In conclusion, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is a fun and nostalgic experience for fans of The Muppets, with a fresh and modern twist. The ride is a brilliant addition to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and I can’t wait to see how it will evolve and change over time. So, if you’re a Muppet fan or just looking for a fun and unique roller coaster experience, be sure to check it out when it officially opens on May 26!
